Winterize Your Spray Equipment by Following These 6 Easy Steps

Posted by Marketing Manager on Wed, Dec 21, 2011

Properly winterizing your spray equipment is important to ensure safe storage during the winter months. Following these steps may take a little extra effort and energy now, but will save time and money in the spring, plus help the equipment last longer!

Personal Safety

Be sure to wear appropriate protective gear when cleaning herbicide or pesticide equipment. We recommend following the guidelines as listed on the label for making the application. We also strongly suggest wearing protective eye gear (even if it's not specifically listed on the label).

6 Easy Steps to Winterize Your Spray Equipment

  1. Flush the system with clean water

  2. Drain the tank and open all valvesKings 100 Gallon 4-Wheel Trailer Sprayer

  3. Run the pump just long enough to ensure that the system is drained of water

  4. Run antifreeze through the system long enough to reach any hoses and booms (We recommend diluting the antifreeze 50/50 with either water or windshield washer fluid)

  5. Store anything removable (guns, nozzle tips & strainers) in a clean, dry place

  6. Cover any openings on the sprayer so that dirt, insects, etc. cannot enter the equipment

Make sure to drain all tanks and lines. Use compressed air to blow out any liquid from solution lines.
