Product Highlight: Delavan Electric Diaphragm Pumps

Electric diaphragm pumps, like ShurFlo and Delavan, are widely used in a variety of spraying applications. They are inexpensive, offer low-cost maintenance, and can effectively perform many jobs with ease. They are commonly used in spot sprayers, small skid sprayers and other spray equipment where spraying long distances is not needed. Due to their pressure rating limitations, electric pumps are not the best choice for spraying tall trees, roofs or high elevation areas. Customers looking to reach great heights will be better served by using a gas engine driven pump.

Electric pumps are great for greenhouse spraying to reduce fumes, or for quiet applications where noise levels could pose a problem such as spraying early morning around neighborhoods or through quiet zones. 

Delavan PowerFLO Electric Diaphragm Pumps

In case you are not familiar with this brand of pumps, let’s share a brief introduction. Delavan is a Minnesota based company, which manufactures electric diaphragm pumps, roller pumps, centrifugal pumps, and hydraulic cylinders.
PowerFLO is Delavan’s popular line of 12V electric diaphragm pumps featuring 5 different series: 2200, 7800, 5800, 5900 and FB2. Flow rates run from 1 gpm to 7 gpm with pressure ratings of up to 100 psi. Delavan PowerFLO series offer three different styles of pumps, automatic-demand, bypass, and On/Off switch.

Product Highlight: Hypro Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps are high flow, low-pressure pumps that can deliver pressure ratings of anywhere from 0 to 150 psi and flow rates up to 440 gpm. How exactly do centrifugal pumps work? Well, if you are feeling a bit technical, here’s a simple explanation: On a centrifugal pump, the liquid enters through the middle into an impeller that forces the liquid into the outlet of the pump.

Centrifugal pumps are known to be heavy-duty and durable due to their fewer parts and minimum wear surfaces. Another great feature is they are easy to clean and maintain.

They can be used in a variety of applications including agricultural and industrial spraying. They come in different materials such as cast iron, stainless steel, and even polypropylene, making them capable of handling a variety of liquids and chemicals. They are mostly used with water, insecticides, herbicides, wettable powders, emulsives, and liquid fertilizers just to name a few. Some centrifugal pumps, specifically those made from polypropylene, can handle acids and other corrosive liquids.

Centrifugal pumps can be powered by different methods, the most common include


Series 9000 - 9400 Belt-Driven Centrifugal Pumps

This series is specifically designed for easy use with tractor mounted sprayers. They can handle big, high-capacity spraying jobs with ease and are easy to install/uninstall.

Pressure ratings: 62 - 104 psi

Flow rate: 82 - 140 gpm

Speed: 600 or 1000 rpm

Gas Engine

Series 1500 Gas Engine-Driven Centrifugal Pumps

As their name describes, this series can be mounted onto a gas engine. They are available with or without a mounting base for easy and secure installation depending on your engine. Need a pump that can tackle more than just spraying? Fill tanks, water seed beds and transfer liquids fast and efficiently with Hypro’s centrifugal pumps.

Pressure ratings: 65 - 140 psi

Flow rate: 98 - 150 gpm


Hydraulic Motor

Series 9300 Hydraulically-Driven Centrifugal Pumps

Product Highlight: Hypro Piston Pumps

Hypro piston pumps are designed for a variety of applications. They are a common component in high-pressure washers for industrial PistonPumps_SD.jpgand agricultural cleaning jobs. Piston pumps are also a great option as a sprayer pump as they are able to handle a wide range of chemicals.

The Hypro Big Twin Piston Pumps Series 5200  includes Hypro's most popular piston pumps. They are constructed of cast iron body and cylinder heads. Hypro piston pumps come in a variety of cup materials that makes them resistant to a wide range of solutions. These are:

Leather: For pumping aromatic solvents and other chemicals damaging to rubber.

Fabric: For pumping most insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers.

Buna-N Rubber: For pumping soap and detergent solutions and some fertilizers.

Caring For Your Pump

Servicing your pump is easy and will extend the life of your spray equipment. Depending on the liquid you are spraying, your maintenance requirements may vary so always read the label carefully. However, there are a few standard steps you may want to follow to care for your pump:

  • Generally, after each use, flush pump with a neutralizing solution for the liquid just pumped. Follow with a clear water rinse. This is especially important for corrosive chemicals. Then flush out the pump with a 50% solution of automotive radiator anti-freeze containing a rust inhibitor.
  • If you will not be using the piston pump often, or if you are planning to store it for a long period of time, then it is recommended to drain the pump thoroughly. Open any drain plugs, remove the suction hose from the liquid and run the pump “dry” from 0 to 30 seconds. Flush with a 50% solution of anti-freeze and water. Then, just plug both ports to keep out air until you are ready to use it again, and you are done!

Product Highlight: Hypro Roller Pumps

Hypro roller pumps are designed for creating and boosting pressure in fluid circuits. The economical Hypro_Roller_Pumps.pngrotary-action roller principle requires no check valves, while providing positive displacement characteristics with less friction and lower starting torque than other pumps.

Ever wondered how these pumps work? Basically the pump receives fluid through the inlet port where it's captured and transported by the rollers. Afterwards the fluid is expelled through the outlet port. Easy, right?

Hypro roller pumps include housings and rollers, which come in a variety of materials that makes them resistant to a wide range of chemicals. The standard models of roller pumps rotate counterclockwise, when looking at the shaft end of the pump. However, reverse rotation roller pumps are also available if you need them.

Product Highlight: Udor Kappa-43 Diaphragm Pump

Udor Kappa series pumps offer reliable, high-quality and popular solutions when working with harsh chemicals. Due to their anodized aluminum construction, they are ideal for handling a number of common of professional chemicals, such as herbicides, pesticides, liquid fertilizers, de-icing materials, and other hard-to-handle fluids. 

One of our top sellers is the Udor Kappa-43 diaphragm pump. This is a commonly used pump in various horticulture, agricultural, lawn care, nursery, pest control and turf spraying applications. Let's take a closer look at some of its best features!


Probably the most common issue we see with this type of pump is a diaphragm rupture. Fortunately, this is a pretty easy repair you can do yourself to save time and money. Continue reading below for steps on how to repair a Udor Kappa-43 Diaphragm pump and watch the easy instructional video that follows.

 For this project you will need the following tools:

  • A screwdriver
  • Wrench
  • 1/2" socket
  • 11/16" socket
  • Diaphragm kit (3 piston diaphragms, 6 sets of O-rings)

Let's get started! Follow these steps:

  1. Loosen the bolts on one of the 3 head assemblies
  2. Remove the head assembly
  3. Remove the diaphragm, nut, and washer
  4. Remove the diaphragm
  5. Remove the sleeve, and drain the internal oil
  6. Loosen the bolts on the 2nd head assembly
  7. Remove the head assembly
  8. Remove the diaphragm, nut, and washer
  9. Remove the diaphragm
  10. Remove the diaphragm sleeve
  11. Repeat this process on the remaining head
  12. Clean the inside of the pump with carb or brake cleaner
  13. Replace the sleeve, lining up the holes on the sleeve with the holes on the piston
  14. The diaphragm has a beveled side; this side will be pointing out
  15. Replace the diaphragm, nut, and washer; tighten with a wrench
  16. On each side of the 3 outer head assemblies remove the inside of the valve cage, replace the spring, small seat (beveled side down), and large metal seat
  17. Place the valve assembly back onto the head and replace the O-ring with a new one
  18. The other side has the same pieces in the opposite order
  19. Replace the spring, seat, and large seat
  20. Replace the O-ring with a new one
  21. Repeat this process on all 3 head assemblies
  22. Replace the head assembly
  23. Tighten the assembly skipping bolts in a clockwise pattern to evenly tighten
  24. Replace the piston sleeve on the 2nd side
  25. Replace the diaphragm with the beveled side out
  26. Replace the diaphragm, washer, and nut; tighten with a wrench
  27. Replace the 2nd head assembly, tightening the bolts with a wrench
  28. Using non-detergent 40W pump oil; fill the open side of the pump to the brim
  29. Replace the final piston sleeve, lining up the holes with the piston
  30. Clean off excess oil  Replace the final diaphragm
  31. Replace the diaphragm, washer, and nut; tighten with a wrench
  32. Replace the final head
