Pest management professionals are increasingly using technology to heighten efficiency and optimize time management. In recent years, apps have become a popular way to access information quickly, even during the work day when many pest management professionals are on-the-road.
We evaluated some popular industry apps and here's our four favorites:
- National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA’s) Field Guide:
The PMA mobile Field Guide is the essential tool for pest management professionals to identify, control and eliminate unwanted pests. In addition to providing pest-specific information on control strategies, behavior and biology, this app offers hundreds of images and also allows you to store images of pests you’ve encountered in the field. You can also email pest info to your customers directly through the app. This app offers all the material from the “little blue book” with the ease of carrying it around with you.
- Bayer Pest Portal: This smartphone app allows pest management professionals to access information about chemical solutions and preventative tips, along with find products, calculate use rates, browse Bayer product resources and promotions, and see local weather.
- Pest Routes: Promoted as an "end-to-end" pest control software, this app is part of a paperless software solution that allows access to the software “on the road,” so technicians can view, edit and complete appointments from the field. It’s real time, so changes are reflected immediately and stops can be added (or removed) from routes. Technicians enter chemical information and other notes, and the system syncs back to the office and shares pertinent details with customers. Service notes and invoices are completed right from the app. The software is customizable and can be tailored to fit specific business needs.
- Pest Control Technology:
Get the latest news and market analyses, watch videos, photos/slide shows, and listen to podcasts. PCT’s award-wining editorial content is complemented by a wide array of digital enhancements including video, touch points, photo slide shows, animation, website links, audio podcasts, interactive advertising.
