Sprayer Depot Celebrates National Agriculture Day

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Tue, Mar 21, 2017

Ag Day is a historic event that promotes recognition and appreciation for all those involved in American agriculture.

Celebrating Agriculture for 44 Years

The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) is dedicated to increasing public awareness of agriculture's vital role in our society. Comprised of leaders in the agriculture, food and fiber communities, the Agriculture Council of America along with the National Ag Day program was started in 1973.

Every spring, producers along with agricultural associations, companies, universities, government agencies and others across the country join together in recognition—and appreciation—of agriculture in our country.

Farming and Beyond

The need for food produced in the United States is dramatic. Each American farmer feeds more than 144 people.* Agriculture is this nation's #1 export and is essential in sustaining a healthy economy.

And it's not just the farmer who makes our food possible. The entire agriculture industry, all the way to the grocery store, are vital links in a chain that brings food to every citizen - and millions of people abroad. That's really what this day is all about . . . recognizing the role of agriculture - and celebrating it.

The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:

  • Understand how food and fiber products are produced

  • Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products

  • Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy

  • Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry

At Sprayer Depot, we offer a full line of spray equipment and sprayer partsKings-Skid-Sprayer.jpg for the small and mid-sized ag markets, including skid-mounted sprayers, motorized mist blower backpack sprayers, hydraulic sprayers, spray tips and more.

How Investing in the Right Equipment Will Make You Money                             Contributed by Guest Blogger: Martin McGuane, owner and operator of McGuanes Landscaping and Tree Service, Enfield CT

In the beginning, back when I launched my lawn care fertilization service, we started with a spreader and a hand can to spray weeds. It wasn’t long before we realized that we spent almost as much time filling the hand can as we did spraying the weeds, so we invested in a 10 gallon hand can on wheels. I was so happy to be able to treat three times the amount of square footage before refilling the tank.

Continuing to Invest

Once again we found ourselves being inefficient in the amount of time spent filling and mixing instead of spraying weeds so we decided to upgrade to a 200 gallon sprayer with a hose, reel and pump. This was by far one of the best investments I have ever made.

In the mornings we would fill the sprayer and for the rest of the day we would use the 300 feet of hose on a reel to spray without filling or pumping the hand can. With our new sprayer we were able to substantially increase efficiency and production. We doubled the number of lawns we treated during the course of the day.

Depending on the size of your business, choosing the right equipment can increase productivity. In my case, all three sprayers got the job done, but the 200 gallon sprayer with reel, hose and pump got it done much quicker.

Our Tree Spraying Business

We went through the same process with our tree spraying service. We started with a small 200 gallon sprayer on the back of a pickup truck. We could only spray one mix at a time so we had to make a return trip to the same property if we needed two mixes. We decided to buy a larger truck and put two sprayers on it. Now we can pull up to a property and spray two mixes in one stop. Once again, we doubled our production. Whether you have one sprayer on a pickup truck or two sprayers on a larger truck, or even a dual tank sprayer…all get the job done, but one is definitely the least efficient of the three options.

Dual tank sprayers such as the Kings Sprayers Dual Tank Skid Sprayer are a great way to maximizing the utility of spray equipment. With two 50-gallon tanks, this sprayer is great for tree spraying and can be used in truck beds, utility vehicles or trailers.

Kings Sprayers: Building a Sprayer

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Fri, Sep 25, 2015

Building sprayers is more than a job, it's a passion. Passion for ensuring customers' satisfaction, for finding set-ups that improve efficiency and ease of application, and most of all, a passion to build quality products that are cost-effective and time-saving. We are passionate about what we do and we are proud to manufacture Kings Sprayers in Orlando, FL.

Do you want to learn more about how we build  Kings Sprayers? We thought you would so we've outlined the basic steps from start to finish.

The first step after we've received your order is for our production manager to go over the work order for your specific sprayer model. If it is a custom sprayer, he makes sure that it can be built according to your specifications while also following safety standards. If our production team identifies something that could be improved or changed to give you a product that may better meet your needs, our team will offer the solution and work with you to design the best set-up for your needs.  We love it when customers take an active role in customizing their sprayers. After all, no one knows your job better than you do!

Then we move to the manufacturing process, where our welders will build a sturdy, yet lightweight, aluminum frame that will support all components in your sprayer. The next step involves assembly and this is where everything comes together. Our assembly technicians will carefully install all the individual components (hose reels, pumps, boomless nozzles, tanks, engines etc.) and make sure that every part is set up correctly. The unit then moves to our quality control station where it will be thoroughly tested.

Building Kings Sprayers at our Orlando facility instead of just outsourcing manufacturing means that we have control over quality, can offer better customization along with great prices and faster delivery times. We stand behind our products and can guarantee that our sprayers are built to the highest standards of quality and with the best available parts.

Anatomy of a Sprayer

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Wed, Mar 11, 2015

KSSprayers are a unique piece of equipment that span uses across multiple industries. No matter what your intended use, the components and parts that make up a sprayer remain the same, with slight tweaks here and there for each industry’s use. Here we’ll take a look at what makes up a sprayer.

First, when we’re talking sprayers, we throw a lot of numbers out there in reference to a given model number. P5, D30 and XL are likely some common shorthand that you’ve heard, but what does it all really mean? Let’s take a look at the anatomy of a sprayer by analyzing the parts that make up a model number with a little help from Brandon Grossman, Sales Manager at Sprayer Depot.

Sprayer model numbers are jam-packed with information about the product itself. If you know enough about the various pumps and parts of a sprayer, you can probably recite every last detail of the features included in a given sprayer just from the model number alone. Let’s use Kings Sprayers as an example and I’ll walk you through how it works.

Model numbers consist of the frame, tank size, pump and engine as well as applicable customization options for a given unit. You might be thinking that my previous statement is crazy … the one about knowing all the features of a given model just from the number, but in all seriousness it’s not as complicated as it may seem at first.

So let’s start from the beginning. All Kings Sprayers model numbers start with the letter ‘K’ as in Kings Sprayers, but you probably already guessed that.

There are really four types of sprayers from this manufacturer: skid sprayers are noted by the letters KS, KT notes 2-wheel frames, 4-wheel frames are noted with K4C, and 3-point hitch frames start with K3PTH.

From there the model number will tell you the tank size. So a skid sprayer from Kings Sprayers with a 200-gallon tank would start with ‘KS200.’ Common tank sizes are 50, 100, 150 and 200-gallon capacity, but go up from there and vary in capacity by the type.

Next in the order of letters and numbers in a model number is the pump/engine combination. This one isn’t as easy to assume, so here it goes:

P3 = 12V Electric Pump
P5 = GC160 5 HP Honda Engine and Hypro 4101C Roller Pump
P6 = GX160 5.5 HP Honda Engine and Hypro 4101XL Roller Pump
P15 = GC160 5 HP Honda Engine and Udor IOTA20GR Diaphragm Pump
P20 = GX160 5.5 HP Honda Engine and Udor IOTA20GR Diaphragm Pump
P70 = GX160 5.5 HP Honda Engine and Udor KAPPA43GR Diaphragm Pump
P85 = GX160 5.5 HP Honda Engine and Udor KAPPA55GR5 Diaphragm Pump
P90 = GX270 9 HP Honda Engine and Udor KAPPA55GR8 Diaphragm Pump

One exception to this rule are the 3-point hitch sprayers from Kings Sprayers, which are all equipped with a Hypro 7560C Roller Pump, so you won’t see that in the model number.

Rounding out the model number combination are the add-ons or extra customizations for a given sprayer. There are really three you need to know:

27 = Manual hose reel with a 150-foot long 3/8-inch ID hose
B12 = 12-foot spray boom
XL = XL silver series roller pump

Ultimately the model number looks a little something like this:

[brand][type of sprayer][tank size][pump/engine combination][extra add-ons]

So a KS100P7027 would refer to a Kings Sprayer model with the following features: skid sprayer, 100-gallon tank, GX160 5.5 HP Honda engine and Udor KAPPA43GR diaphragm pump with a manual hose reel. Got it? Good.

We love hearing your ideas. Anything you’d like us to cover here on our blog? Leave a comment below or send us a note on Facebook or Twitter. Until next time, happy spraying.

How To Build the Perfect Custom Sprayer

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Fri, Sep 05, 2014

Kings Sprayer 100/50 Dual Tank Skid Sprayer

When we say we know sprayers, it’s true. Our team builds more than 500 custom sprayers each year for customers looking to modify or completely reconfigure the makeup of this important tool. After all, you don’t have to settle for less than perfect in the sprayer world. Just turn to our Sprayer Depot knowledgeable customer service technicians with your ideas and < bam > the perfect custom sprayer is born. Here we’ll take a look at some of the common modifications to a few of our best selling sprayer models from Kings Sprayers.

You might be wondering if Sprayer Depot can modify one of the existing sprayers manufactured from Kings Sprayers. In a word, YES! Whether it’s adding more hose, swapping out the pump, or modifying the entire unit to your specific needs, Sprayer Depot can make it happen. We talked to operations manager David Herrera who mentioned “one of our biggest strengths is that we can get creative to solve space issues by creating custom frames and thinking outside the box.” Let’s take a closer look at a few scenarios as described by David:

One common customization is the dual tank setup (pictured above). Sometimes customers want two tanks so they can have chemicals in one tank and fresh water in the other, or another common scenario is having a need to spray two different chemicals while out on the job. We can make that happen within almost any parameter needed.

Another unique customization we created at the request of a customer is depicted in the same image above where you’ll notice that the hose reel is turned to the side. This is popular with the skid sprayer units in particular because the skid sprayer is usually in the bed of a pickup truck. It can be more convenient for the operator to have the hose dispatched from the passenger side when spraying lawns and shrubs.

Gator Kings SprayersAnother example is  this custom Gator Kings Sprayers model. This skid sprayer unit fits into the back of a Gator utility vehicle. We had a customer request for a 100-gallon tank with a specific pump, engine, and hose reel. Given the standard way we build our skids, there was no way we could fit what the customer wanted in his Gator. So we got creative by using a low profile tank and designed a custom frame so that all of the components could be mounted above the tank. This is one of the most direct examples of how our team can creatively solve a problem a customer might have encountered with a standard off-the-shelf sprayer.

Below are a few of the most common modifications that can turn a stock sprayer into a custom model ideal for your needs:

  • Change the manual hose reel to an electric version
  • Add more hose to the hose reel
  • Change the standard spray gun to something else
  • Swap in a larger tank
  • Change the gas engine to electric start
  • Modify the orientation of the tank on the frame
  • Change the sprayer pump to a different manufacturer’s pump
  • Add another line on the suction side

So, what modifications would you love to improve your sprayer?
