Is your sprayer ready to rock-and roll? Now's the time to make sure all your spray equipement is in top condition. Precision is key, especially when considering that many of today's pesticides, herbicides and fungicides are more concentrated formulas than in the past, therefore requiring precise application. Do these 5 things to ensure your sprayer is in tip-top condition:
-
Clean spray nozzles (you can use an air compressor to clean out the gunk), check their flow rates, and replace any that are spraying more than 10 percent of the original output
-
Clean the sprayer tank thoroughly and make sure nozzle filters are clean
-
Check the agitator in the tank to make sure it’s working properly
-
Run water through the spray system to make sure everything is working properly
-
Check your tires to make sure they are inflated to the manufacturer's specifications
It's also a good idea to stock up on parts and accessories, so that down-time is reduced if a repair is needed during the season. Don't forget the spray hose!
