Why Pest Control Companies are Buying More Online

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Tue, Jun 06, 2017

In order for most most businesses to succeed, it's essential they have vendors that can be counted on to provide quick and efficient service. pest-control-.pngThe same is true for pest control companies needing equipment and parts.

How e-Commerce Makes Businesses More Efficient

There are lots of reasons why B2B  online purchasing has soared in popularity over the last few years, including:

  • It's quick: By bookmarking favorite sites like Sprayerdepot.com, they can be accessed quickly for easy ordering, even on a mobile device.
  • It's convenient: Order online 24/7; no need to wait for a store to open.
  • It's reliable: With policies like Sprayer Depot's Same Day Shipping Guarantee, it's easier than ever to predict deliveries thus plan accordingly, therefore maximizing productivity and reducing downtime.

Online ordering also makes it simple to keep track of order history and frequently purchased items. According to Forrester Research, by the end of 2017 the number of B2B buyers completing at least half of their work-related purchases online will soar to 56 percent.

After discovering the convenience, speed and ease of ordering online, many pest control companies are taking advantage of e-commerce in a big way. Jason Eicher’s company, Southlake, Texas-based Versacor Enterprises, buys 95 percent of its products online, with the other 5 percent purchased by phone and picked up in person. “We like the convenience, efficiency and accuracy of online purchasing,” Eicher says.

Fast Shipping

Here at Sprayer Depot, we offer a huge selection of products that many brick and mortar stores don't carry on a regular basis. For instance, the high-efficiency B & G Acc-Spray Handheld Sprayer with its crack and crevice straw, and 4-way tip is available with SAME day shipping on our website.  The Hudson Bak Pak Sprayer, which allows pest management Hudson_NeverPump.pngprofessionals to conveniently spray for 10 hours without having to charge the battery, is ready for shipment as soon as you need it. If a skid sprayer is on your wish list, we offer many models to choose from and even feature a few models in our  Kings Sprayers® QuickShip™ program: these sprayers are in-stock and ship the same day (order must be placed by 12:00 p.m. ET). Read more about our QuickShip program in this previous blog post.

Visit our website to see how easy shopping for spray equipment online can be. We understand that there are times when you need help figuring out which part you need, or you may have questions about specific equipment. A Guide to Equipment Management: How to Determine When You Should Buy New or Used, and When You Should Repair

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Tue, May 23, 2017

Landscaper's Corner: Insights and Updates for Landscape Professionals

Contributed by Guest Blogger: Martin McGuane, owner and operator of McGuanes Landscaping and Tree Service, Enfield CT

In the landscaping industry, one of the biggest business expenses is for trucks and equipment; every landscaper wants brand new, shiny trucks and equipment. landscapers corner-2.jpg
While the temptation to buy all new equipment and trucks is there,
it’s important to take a close look at the dollars and sense of buying new or used.

Our First New Truck

I remember when I first started out. Money was tight and our budget was lean. So, we bought a used truck for $6000. In two years, we spent $4800 on repairs before finally replacing it. A few years later, while 'crunching the numbers' one winter, I realized that I was spending $200 per month on each vehicle in repairs. It was at that time that we decided to buy our first new truck.

While 'crunching the numbers' the next winter, we were surprised to realize that we saved a lot of money on our new truck purchase:

  • We saved a fair amount on taxes
  • There were no repair bills
  • Our fuel consumption went down

The bottom line was that the new truck probably only cost us about $100 per month more than continuing to run the old truck. Plus, we had the added benefit of not having any down time and the improved company image a new truck brought us.

That was 25 years ago. But the lesson I learned is timeless...know your numbers!

Purchasing New Equipment

The decision process to purchase equipment is very similar to buying a truck. The first step is to define the need: Do you need to buy a 1,000 gallon sprayer with tall tree capabilities to if your plan is to only spray crab apples and birches? The answer is "no".

It’s important to properly maintain all equipment ; over time the regular maintenance turns in to costly repairs. Once again, it’s important to 'crunch the numbers' and figure out at what point the repairs no longer make sense and when it's time to replace the old equipment with new.

This is sometimes a tough call to make. Kings-Sprayers-Electric-Sprayer.jpgNone of us are immune to the sticker shock of a $10,000 sprayer, but if you spent $2,500 in parts last year to keep a 12 year old sprayer running, it probably makes sense to replace it with a new one.

When buying new equipment such as a sprayer, do your research! Don’t run to the closest brick and mortar shop to buy whatever is in the showroom. Instead, we recommend building relationships with vendors you can trust. For example, we use Sprayer Depot for all spray equipment, including replacement parts for existing equipment like a JD9-C Spray Gun. In our business, time is money and we try our best to eliminate downtime, so we especially like Sprayer Depot’s same day shipping guarantee.

Know Your Needs

A key component to knowing your needs is having a solid business plan in place that identifies both short and long-term goals and determines specific equipment needed to successfully execute the plan. Figure out the true cost of running that all equipment.

Having a disciplined approach to keeping track of maintenance and repair costs will help you make the right decision when considering whether to repair or replace, and whether to buy new or used.

Get The Right Sprayer For The Job

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Mon, Jun 13, 2016

There are many options in the marketplace when it comes to sprayers. Depending on your industry, Kings Sprayers.jpgdeciding which options and features to include can quickly get confusing.

However, choosing the right sprayer for your job should not be a daunting task. Whether you are jsut starting out in a new business or you are a seasoned spray applicator, there are a few things you should consider before buying new equipment. You should start by answering a couple of questions to help you determine the sprayer that best fits your needs:

  • What are you spraying? (Trees? Lawns? Golf Course?)
  • Will you be spraying by hand or using a vehicle?
  • What type of vehicle are you using to transport the sprayer?
  • What chemicals are you applying?
  • How big or small is the area you are spraying?

Once you've got answers to these questions, consider the following options:

Skid Sprayers

These sprayers are usually mounted in the back of pickup trucks or utility vehicles. Skid sprayers are popular among pest control operators and landscapers because the sprayer can easily be transported from site to site.

2-Wheel Sprayers

2-Wheel sprayers are often used when the sprayer is pulled by an ATV or another type of vehicle. They are great for large areas such as golf courses and sports fields, where a pickup truck or walking is not suitable.

4-Wheel sprayers

Since they are easy to maneuver, 4-Wheel sprayers are typically preferred by customers who are in need of a sprayer they can pull by hand. Due to the pivoting front axle and T-handle, these sprayers are ideal for use in tight areas such as greenhouses or nurseries where the sprayer can be pulled along by hand and the operator can spray hard-to-reach locations.

3-Point Hitch Sprayers

3-Point Hitch sprayers are perfect for customers who plan to hitch the sprayer to a tractor in order to spray large areas like golf courses, athletic fields, crop fields, pastures and lawns. Large areas can be sprayed, without the spray applicator having to leave the cab. Booms or boomless nozzles can be attached, depending on the application.

Spot Sprayers

Spot sprayers are the ideal equipment for spraying along fences, keeping weeds at bay and spraying other hard to reach places. They are designed to tackle smaller areas while providing more gallon capacity and a more reliable application than hand-held or backpack sprayers.

Kings Sprayers® has been building high quality commercial sprayers for more than 30 years. Made in the USA and based in Orlando, FL, every sprayer is built from the ground up, using only the best parts like Hypro® pumps, Udor® pumpsHonda® engines, and 6061 aircraft grade aluminum frames. Durable and well-built, Kings Sprayers are made to last. Click HERE to check out our complete line of Kings Sprayers.

Does Your Backpack Sprayer Do It All?

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Fri, Apr 08, 2016

Is It the Right Sprayer for the Job?

Regardless of the size of your company, whether you are just starting out or have years of Backpack_sprayers.jpgexperience, you probably have a backpack sprayer or two in your equipment fleet. Backpack sprayers are a great option for spot treatments. They work well in those small, hard-to-reach areas where large equipment might not be able to access.

Backpack sprayers are inexpensive, simple to use and easy to maintain. However, oftentimes spray applicators will attempt to use a backpack sprayer for jobs that are better suited for a skid sprayer.

The truth is a backpack sprayer can’t do it all. No matter how convenient and economical they are, they simply cannot compare to bigger sprayers when it comes to performance. Not only do they have limited capacity to hold large amounts of liquid, they also cannot output as much pressure. Productivity and the effectiveness of the application will suffer if the wrong type of equipment is used.

Take the pressure off your shoulders (literally) and invest in the proper sprayer for your business.

A small skid sprayer such as the Kings Sprayers® 50 Gallon Skid Sprayer with 7 gpm Roller Pump KS50P5-50-gallon-skid-sprayer.jpgcan be mounted on any utility vehicle for easy portability. A skid sprayer offers constant output of pesticide for adequate coverage on large areas. It can hold a lot more liquid than a backpack sprayer so no need to constantly stop in the middle of application to refill and mix chemicals. Out in the field, it can be easy to make mistakes while rushing to get the job done. You may end up over or under mixing your pesticide which can have negative consequences such as loss of crops or contamination from runoff.

The benefits of keeping the right equipment in your fleet are numerous, but we understand the initial cost of purchasing might hold you back from taking the plunge. Check out this blog post we published last year. It offers some tips to consider when purchasing new equipment.  You will increase your efficacy and also your productivity, which means extra time to take on even more jobs and grow your customer base.

We offer low prices on all spray equipment, parts, and accessories, so don’t limit the success of your business by using the wrong equipment. Please consult with one of our Customer Service Technicians on the best equipment for you.

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Wed, Apr 06, 2016

KingsSprayers_Custom-Sprayers.pngWe understand that not every application or applicator works the same way. No one knows your job better than you do, so take charge of your spray equipment. Get exactly what YOU need at a price that won't break the bank.

Our team of knowledgeable Customer Service Technicians will work with you to develop, design, and build the spray equipment you want and need. We are proud of delivering excellent customer service, expert technical support, and quality sprayers that can be custom-built for your business.

We've built thousands of custom sprayers over the years, so we can help you find the best set-up for your application. Our Customer Service Technicians can answer all of your technical questions and provide you with a free quote. If price is holding you back from purchasing custom equipment, put your mind and wallet at ease. Custom sprayers are more affordable than you think, and most common modifications are relatively inexpensive.

Need more hose or a bigger tank with a different frame? We never shy away from any type of customization, regardless of how small or big of a job it may be.

Here are some examples of the most common modification requests we receive:

  • Extra hose reels
  • Switch manual hose to an electric version
  • Select a different spray gun
  • Use a bigger or smaller tank
  • Change the tank's orientation on the frame
  • Add another line on the suction side
  • Switch gas engine to electric start

We've built many different sprayers so we can recommend a variety of great options for your unit. We talked to Sales Manager, Brandon Grossman, who shared with us three recent custom-built sprayers:

Kings Sprayers 200 Gallon Hot Water Pressure Washer Skid Sprayer

KS200P19HW-Hot water pressure washer sprayer.jpg"One of our customers landed a bid for a series of mall properties. The bid required a hot water pressure washer in order to clean away all of the grease and grime in and around the building. The cold water pressure washers he used previously served only to move the grime around instead of melting it away. The solution was to build a sprayer with a water heater. The hot water not only cleans away the dirt but also allows the job to be completed more efficiently by reducing the amount of spray time needed."

Model: KS200P1926HW

Features:
  • 13 HP Honda GX390 series electric start engine
  • General Pump plunger pump (4 gpm, 4000 psi)
  • Sprayer equipped with manual hose reel and 100' 3/8" ID hose
  • 6061 aircraft grade aluminum frame
  • 12V battery included to power engine

Kings Sprayers 200 Gallon 4-Wheel Sprayer w/ 7 GPM Electric Pump

KS200P3FB27BK-Web.jpg
"A customer recently built four new greenhouses and needed an electric sprayer, instead of a gas engine, to reduce emissions. He also needed a pump that would supply enough flow and pressure to effectively spray at the end of a 150’ length of hose. A 4-wheel sprayer was ideal for this job as it can be pulled by hand and has great maneuverability for tight spaces"

Features:
  • Delavan 7870-101Y-SB 12V pump (7 gpm, 100 psi)
  • Manual hose reel with 150' 3/8" ID hose
  • Battery kit included
  • 6061 aircraft grade aluminum frame

Kings Sprayers 200/100 Gallon Dual Tank Skid Sprayer & Dual Electric Hose Reels

KS200100P7039E2.jpg "A recent customer needed to mix water with chemicals and have two applicators spraying at the same time. We modified a skid sprayer so he could easily mount the unit on a vehicle and added an extra tank and an extra hose reel!"

Features:
  • 5.5 HP Honda GX160 electric start engine
  • Hypro D30GRGI diaphragm pump (9.5 gpm, 580 psi)
  • Dual electric hose reels with 300' of 1/2" ID hose
  • Hose roller guides & fill pipes for each tank
  • Battery kit included for engine & electric hose reels
  • 6061 aircraft grade aluminum frame
