Summer Spray Equipment Maintenance Checklist

Posted by Sprayer Depot on Fri, Aug 25, 2017

During the busy summer season, it's easy to overlook spray equipment maintenance. However, to keep your equipment running smoothly all year round, it's a goodK4C100P7027-actual_BAN.jpg idea to run through this quick summer maintenance checklist.

  • Strainers: Check your strainer to make sure it's clean and unclogged. While this might seem like a "no-brainer", it's often overlooked by even large companies with fleets of trucks and multiple sprayer units.
  • Oil: Make sure to change your oil regularly; if it's dark or contains floating debris it's probably time for an oil change!
  • Hoses: Hoses take a lot of wear-and-tear but they aren't made to last forever. Inspect hoses for leaks or cracks and replace as-needed. It's a good idea to keep extra hose on hand to avoid downtime.
  • Pumps: Often, a simple repair can add years of life to your pump and can ensure your spray equipment runs smoothly. Stock up on pump repair kits to make sure your pump is always in working condition. Need help? Watch our instructional video

Hypro diaphragm pumps are recommended for spraying herbicides, pesticides, liquid fertilizers, and many other hard-to-handle fluids. The Hypro D30 is one of Hypro's most popular medium pressure diaphragm pumps. Its low cost maintenance, and almost wear-free operation help make it the ideal choice for a wide variety of spraying jobs. This is definitely one of our top selling pumps, and the preferred choice for several of our small to medium-sized Kings Sprayers® models.

Need to control the pressure?

You can mount a control unit (also known as a regulator) on this pump for easy flow and pressure control of your sprayer system. Hypro GS40GI is a popular control unit companion for the D30. Installation is easy and we'll gladly mount it for you. Just let one of our friendly Customer Service Technicians know what you need.

Prefer to install it yourself? Follow these simple steps for direct mounting onto the pump:

  1. Locate the discharge flange port on the discharge manifold

  2. Using a 13 mm wrench, remove the nuts holding the flange manifold

  3. Remove the o-ring from the groove of the flange and install into the control unit flange

  1. Install the control unit onto the manifold where the discharge port had been previously

  2. Use the nuts previously removed to secure the control unit

  3. Install the hose barb outlets onto the control unit, making sure the o-rings are in place on the hose barbs

Just as every other part of your pump, the control unit also requires servicing and maintenance. If you need to repair the entire unit, order the repair kit and follow the instructions below to have it fixed in no time!

Posted by Marketing Manager on Tue, Oct 08, 2013

Follow These Step-by-Step Instructions to

Complete a Diaphragm Repair on a Hypro D30 Pump

Using an 11/16 inch socket remove both bolts on either side of the head. After removing the top head assembly, remove each of the 4 bolts on the head to access the diaphragm.

  • Remove the diaphragm bolt.

  • Remove the old diaphragm.HyproD30 copy resized 600

  • Remove the piston sleeve and drain the oil.

  • Remove the 4 bolts on the opposing side to reveal the second diaphragm.

  • Remove the diaphragm bolts and diaphragm.

  • Remove the second piston sleeve.

Now that both piston sleeves are removed, clean the pump with carb or brake cleaner to remove excess water and oil.

The D30 Diaphragm Kit consists of 2 diaphragms, your air accumulator diaphragm, and 4 O-rings for the valves. The piston sleeve has 2 holes at 12 and 6, insert the sleeve over the piston.

Once the piston sleeve is in place, put in the new diaphragm, be sure the proper side faces the oil as marked on the diaphragm.

  • Replace the washer and diaphragm nut with a ¾ inch socket.

  • Replace the head and tighten with a ¾ inch socket.

  • Add non-detergent pump oil into the other side of the unit, fill almost to the brim.

  • Replace the second sleeve with holes at 6 and 12.

  • Clean excess oil, replace the diaphragm, washer, and nut.

  • Install the 2nd side of the head, sealing the oil inside.

  • Now that both sides are on tight, place the 2 new O-rings on the base, the other 2 on the head assembly.

  • Using your index finger and middle fingers, hold the O-rings on the head and place it over the base.

  • Tighten the 2 bolts on either side of the head assembly.

Now we’re onto the air accumulator diaphragm:

  • Remove the bolts with a ½ inch socket.

  • Remove the old accumulator diaphragm, placing the new diaphragm flush in its place.

  • Replace the top and tighten the bolts down.

This concludes the Diaphragm Repair Kit Install.  You can also watch our Instructional Video on this topic:
